An AG with a disability! Now there is a whole other market that they haven't even touched on. If they made one, I'd have to get it for my mom. My sister had a disability.

I still wish they would do a doll or dolls for their aniversary. I would love to see Linda and Susan as Molly's friend dolls, that would happen to coenside with their aniversary. Oh I can wish!

I hope they make friend dolls until all the girls have friends, but I do want to see some new historical characters.
Like someone said before, Sarah, Addy's friend, is one of my favorites and it'd be neat if AG made her, but when I first saw AGT26, I though, "Harriet!" Now I'm not saying I hope AG makes Harriet, as for most of Addy's books she is not very nice to Addy, but that was my thought on seeing AGT26.
For Kirsten, I'd really like to see Singing Bird. Wouldn't it be great to read her story? What life is like for her and perhaps have the story coincide with when Kirsten meets her? I think it'd be neat, and it would solve the problem of having a doll so similar to her.
As much as everyone loves Ruthie (and I do too!), I'd almost like to see a Stirling doll. Stirling's one of my favorite characters.
Josefina's friend should be Mariana, and though she's only in one book it would again give the contrast of a different family, a different lifestyle.
Kaya's friend, as everyone has said, would be Speaking Rain, and it would be interesting to have a story from her perspective as well, especially considering she was kidnapped and then lived with a different family.
I think Susan should be Molly's friend, but then, I don't think we have much choice about that anymore.
Does anyone remember the catalog that had a little sidebar of "match the American Girls to their Best Friends"? It was not long after Nellie was released, and I think Susan was Molly's friend there, and the rest were the ones we've all guessed. I keep thinking about that catalog and hope they stick to those friends!

I honestly think that AG needs to stop with the friend dolls and start up with another historical. There were way more than 8 time periods in American History, and I think there's plenty of room for more diversity and explorations through time.

I think it would be cool if they made a white girl as part of Ddy's collection and then made some stories to go with her. Maybe someone in the North just to see a whole new take on the civil war. Of course, there isn't a character that would fit this description but I still think it would be neat!

I agree about Addy and Sarah. I will be seriously angry if they make Harriet as Addy's friend. Sarah's character is so integral to the books- she is perhaps more instrumental in her books than any of the other friends in the other books (with the possible exception of Nellie). Aside from that, she just has a wonderful character- she's so caring. I just love Sarah. They can write a new book- so maybe they'll make up a story about Sarah's family becoming better off or something so she at least has as much as Addy. I really hope they don't pass her up simply because she was poor. I wouldn't be buying either way- I already have LOF Laylie as my Sarah doll and I adore the sweet expression on her face.
As for Kirsten, they should make Mary (as someone else mentioned). Even though Anna and Lisbeth are around more in the books, either one would be hard to do. Anna looks a lot like Kirsten, and she's younger and smaller. Lisbeth looks a bit different, but is older and taller than Kirsten. Mary would be the same age, but be really different- she's pictured with curly brown hair. I use LOF Elsie as my Mary doll.
I really wish they'd come out with a new historical though. I'm not all that interested in the friend dolls because their collections are pretty small. I'd much rather a new historical all together- an Asian one would force me into buying a new collection!

Quite honestly, I'm surprised no one has suggested Mary as Kirsten's friend. I doubt they would make Anna, as she would look almost exactly like Kirsten and shares her background. Mary has an interesting story with her family struggling as her father is at logging camp. She's mentioned with some frequency. She's at least in Happy Birthday Kirsten and Changes for Kirsten. She's the one who organizes the schoolgirls to make the quilt for Kirsten.
I don't think that Singing Bird is a viable option. Business is business and I don't think more American Indian dolls will sell. The average person can't distinguish between one tribe and another- I can't see many families buying their girls a Singing Bird doll if they already have Kaya (if they even have Kaya).
Of course, I'm one of the board's biggest proponents of American Indian culture and Kaya- but I don't think that business-wise, another Native doll is the likeliest choice.
I've mentioned before that I don't think they can honestly make a Mariana doll with any kind of historical accuracy. The Pueblo tribes are incredibly private and I don't think AG could make a respectful doll without impeding upon our culture in major ways. They already made a big mistake in their depiction of Mariana- one that very few peopler notice, but that Pueblo people definitely will if they see how she is illustrated.
I'm all for accurate and honest portrayals of American Indians, but only if it can be done in the most respectful way possible.

Well, I just finished Addy's books last night... and the whole while I was reading it... this thought popped into my head.
I bet if they make a friend doll for Addy it will be Harriet... which will be a GREAT disappointment for me. There is not much, outfit and accessory wise, they could equip Sarah with. I know that is horrible. We all talk about how Addy really does get ripped, and that's because her family wasn't very wealthy, the clothes she did have really was due to her mother's talents and job- not money. Harriet would be the better business choice for AG, as she has MANY clothes. Not only that, the style of clothing would be similar enough so that girls fasinated with the victorian era (which really would have been during this period- Sam and Nellie grew up in the Edwardian era) they could have an African-American beauty to dress in frilly laces.
No offense to Addy's collection but if they skip over Sarah for something that trivial (profits) I will not be buying her. Sarah is an important character to Addy.
Oh and by the way... Addy is my next girl to come home. Still searching on Ebay but if my luck continues to be poor... she'll be comeing straight from AG. MWAHAHA I already informed my husband that another baby will be making her way into my arms within the next month ::Fingers crossed::
